Spinlock SUA Mini Jammer

Boat Size: Keelboats up to approximately 25'.
Line Range: 1/4" - 3/8" (6mm-10mm)

These jammers are for use on small keelboats and smaller winches, such as the Cal 25. Smaller than a rope clutch, but has at least twice the holding power of a cam cleat using the same sized line.

Features a polished, stainless steel reinforced body, low and rounded profile, and a manual lock down to prevent accidental release. Holds loads up to 880 lbs. on 3/8" line.

Spinlock XAS Multi-Role Clutches

Small Diameter Lines (XAS0408 Clutches)
The XAS0408 clutches give optimized clutching and holding power on small diameter lines between the sizes of 5/32" - 5/16" (4mm - 8mm). They are strongly recommended for sportboats and other small boat high performance applications.

The XAS0612 series clutches can be upgraded to an XAS0408 clutch by using base module SLCASBASE0408 (see XAS Replacement Parts section below).

Continuous Line (XAS/M)
Solves the problem of loading a continuous furling line. These clutches are supplied as kits with open bullseyes to be assembled directly onto the line. Call APS Customer Service for availability.

Side Mounting the XAS
Side mounting is usually the neatest solution for spars, side decks and combings. Purchase the SLXAS0408H_ or SLXAS0612H_ (where "_" is either "S" for starboard mounting or "P" for port mounting) clutches that are ready for installation, or purchase the SLXASSMNT fairing kit from the XAS Replacement Parts section below to side mount a single XAS clutch on either the port or starboard side.

Small Diameter XTS0608 Clutches:
For 1/4" - 5/16" (6mm-8mm) lines, optimised for 5/16" (8mm) lines, and strongly recommended for high strength small diameters.

Upgrade the XTS0814 to accomodate 1/4" - 5/16" line by fitting it with the SLCAM0608 (See XTS Accessories section below).

Lock-Open Cam XTS/L:
Standard cam fitted with special lock-open feature. When the lock is engaged, the line is able to run freely in both directions until normal clutch function is needed.

To upgrade a standard XTS clutch to have the lock-open feature, fit it with the SLCAM0812L or SLCAM1214L.

Side Mounting XTS:
Side mounting is usually the neatest solution for spars, side decks and combings. Purchase the SLXTS0608H_ or SLXTS0814H_ (where "_" is either "S" for starboard mounting or "P" for port mounting) clutches that are ready for installation, or purchase the SLXTSSMNT fairing kit from the XTS Replacement Parts section below to side mount a single XTS clutch on either the port or starboard side.

Continuous Line XTS/M:
These clutches are designed to be assembled onto the line to overcome the difficult problem of loading an endless mainsail furling line. Choose either the SLXTS06081M, SLXTS08141M, SLXTS08142M, SLXTS08143M

Lock-Open Version SLXX0812/L: Allows lines to run freely with the handle in a closed position. Lifting the integral switch instantly aplies "clutching mode". This feature is ideal for applications such as spinnaker sheets and mainsheets, where locking is rarely needed.

An upgrade kit is available to convert a standard XX clutch into a locking XX clutch (SLXXLCK - See XX Accessories section below).

Today's low stretch halyards and sails, stiffer hulls and spars are transferring much higher loads than most clutches can handle. The ZS Alloy and Carbon jammers are for high load line handling for larger diameters and extreme loads.

ZS Alloy:
High load alloy jammers are available for lines from 5/16"(8mm) through to 11/16"(18mm) with a max holding of 8,800lb(4,000kg).

ZS Carbon
Ultra lightweight, super strength body available for lines from 3/8"(10mm) through to 1-1/4"(32mm) with a maximum safe working load of up to 26,460lbs(12,000).

Spinlock BRS Jammer Blocks

When you “park“ the line on a block you can often save the weight and cost of an extra winch or clutch. Our mobile jammer block is for situations where a fixed deck block can't help: peeling spinnakers, or changing a sheet winch. Because it has its own webbing strop, it takes up no deck space and can be repositioned on the toe rail or onto a padeye.

The BRS cam action is preset with three useful features:

Lock-back: The cam stays clear of the sheet when it is not needed. No accidental jamming.
Auto release: The locked cam springs clear of the line for free runout after the sheet is retensioned.
Friction phase: Even if the sheet goes slack or is out of use when the cam is engaged, the cam stays engaged. No more sheets in the water!

When you're approaching the downwind mark, lock off the spinnaker sheet, and make up the jib sheet on the winch. A tug on the spinnaker sheet will disengage the cam after the drop - without having to touch the block.

For higher load holding and easy release, always fit a clutch. Under load, a winch will always be needed to release the BRS cam, except in light airs.

The SLBRS50 takes line up to 10mm (3/8") and working loads of 800kg (1760 lbs). The SLBRS63 takes line up to 12mm (1/2") and working loads of 1200kg (2640 lbs).

Spinlock ZS Open Jammers

Specially developed for the last Whitbread Race, the hinged body can be opened and closed like a snatch block allowing the jaws to be closed onto a fully loaded line to free up a winch. Because it can be locked onto to any loaded line, this is the perfect solution for peeling spinnakers and headsails or reefing and for dealing with an emergency. The ZS Open Jammer is attached to a strop or short sheet and can be shackled to any available padeye or looped around a winch base.
