Johnson Open Body Turnbuckles (Toggle Jaw)

Stainless steel open body turnbuckles - toggle jaw and machine swage ends. Forged silicon bronze bodies with ends manufactured from type 316 stainless steel. Breaking strengths are approximate -- Johnson Marine recommends a working load of not over 40 percent of the listed breaking strengths. NOTE: Standard finish for 42 series is tumbled and plated.

Ronstan Sealoc Turnbuckles (Toggle Jaw)

Ronstan Sealoc turnbuckles have a sleek, modern profile with no sharp edges. They are easily adjusted by turning the coupling nut, which is free to rotate on the turnbuckle barrel, and are secured with a quick turn on the cone shaped locking nut. A sight hole is provided in the coupling nut to verify adequate thread engagement. With single end adjustment and a fine thread, Ronstan Sealocs are much easier to adjust than conventional turnbuckles, and the use of compatible but dissimilar metals for the threaded components avoids the risk of thread seizure. Ronstan Sealoc turnbuckles are lighter than conventional turnbuckles, have less wind resistance and will suffer less fatigue stress from vibration under load. Constructed with grade 316 stainless steel bodies and terminals with chrome plated aluminum silicon bronze coupling nuts and chrome plated SMH brass locking nuts.

The Sealoc Handle kit includes the black handle with a rotating arm. The kit's long rotating arm is ideal for maximum tensioning leverage, and lift with reposition operation for ease of use or for when rotation space is restricted. The rotation arm snaps into a snag-free lock down position when not in use.

Johnson Handy Lock Turnbuckles (Toggle/Swage)

Turnbuckles for backstays, inner forestays and shrouds. Handy Lock feature makes these fittings neat and compact. Positive locking without cotter pins or check nuts. No sharp corners to tear sails, threads fully protected. Adjustment is quick and requires no tools, just turn handles from lock position to adjust. C-series are calibrated. Johnson recommends that working loads not exceed 40 percent of the approximated breaking strength. Stainless steel construction.

Ronstan Open Body Turnbuckles

Ronstan Open Body Turnbuckles are made from polished chrome plated high grade brass bodies with grade 316 stainless steel end fittings. This combination of materials not only avoids the risk of excessive thread wear or seizure under load, but also provides the considerable advantage of easier adjustment.

Up to 47% more tension can be achieved with the Ronstan brass body turnbuckle than with competitors bronze body turnbuckles, or up to 71% more than an equivalent stainless steel body turnbuckle. Conversely, for a given required rig tension the torque required to adjust a competitors bronze or stainless steel body turnbuckle is up to 40% or 75% more respectively than that of the Ronstan brass body turnbuckle.

After tensioning, cross-drilled ends in the threaded terminals enable the use of split-pins to lock and secure the adjustment. For easy thread identification an etched “R” identifies the right-hand threaded end of the body.

As with all Ronstan turnbuckles, toggles are designed with full universal movement for easy installation and connection and allow the assembled cable to move where the structure is subject to wind loads or vibration.

Johnson Calibrated Stay Adjuster

Here is an extremely functional stainless steel fitting. Adjustment is made by turning the knurled nut. The terminal rod is made captive, therefore it can not turn and can not come apart when fully extended. It produces a fool proof adjuster which can not come apart either by an inexperienced crew or during the vibration of trailering on the road. JH11100 is Jaw and Eye construction. All other models are Jaw and Swage. * = swage with a 3/32 inch die.
