Midrange Captive Ball Traveler Cars are built to handle high loads on boats from 27 ft to 34 ft (8m to 10m). The one-piece solid aluminum construction is lightweight and strong. Machined aluminum Hardkote-anodized races permit Torlon bearings to transition smoothly from the active to return race for smooth trimming and easing. Stainless steel wire guides keep the balls captive when the car is off the track.

Pivoting shackle/toggle cars have low pivot points to handle non-vertical loads. Blocks attach directly to the toggle for a low-profile, compact system. The toggle serves as a stand-up for the mainsheet block.

The H1624, H1626 and H1628 require a minimum radius of 8' (2.44m) on curved track. The H1625, H1627, and H1629 require a minimum radius of 9' (2.73m) on curved track.

The Midrange CB cars are designed for Harken's captive ball track, and will not fit older Harken track. Older, non-Captive Ball cars do fit on the new track designed for Captive Ball Cars. The difference is the deeper indentation, which makes the T of the track more pronounced, and allows room for the wire guide that holds the balls captive.

Traveler control blocks attach to tangs on the toggle or directly to the car. To attach standard blocks to the stand-up toggle choose H1626, H1627 cars or H1638 toggles. Car mounted control blocks feature ball bearing sheaves and mount to the H1624 and H1625 car clear of track end controls. The H1561 Stand-Up Toggle and the H1638 Stand-Up Toggle with Control Tangs both hold the mainsheet block upright, and the H1638 allows for attachment of control blocks. H1557 and H16714 couplers connect cards to allow highter mainsheet loads. Short coupled cars can roll on a tighter radius than one long car.

Use H1623 in conjunction with H1620 double-sheave ESP end controls for cabintop travelers where lines lead to the aft edge of the cabintop. The H1623 is an OEM part found on some Beneteaus and Jeanneaus, and it requires special track found on those boats. The H1620 and H1623 are not recommended except as replacements.

For a 2:1 traveler control use H2650 40mm Carbo Single Fixed block and H1631 End Control. For 3:1 use the H2650, but deaded the line through the center of the sheave and use H1632 or H1633 End Controls. For 4:1 use H2638 40mm Double Swivel block and H1632 or H1633 End Controls.

Midrange traveler controls allow installation of 2:1 to 4:1 purchases. Assemblies secure to the track eliminating additional holes. Tough one-piece bases and cam arms are machined from a single piece of aluminum. Compact, high-strength Carbo AirBlock components combined with Carbo-Cam cleats keep traveler weight minimal. For angled cleating install the H380 X-Treme Angle Fairlead.

Use H1620 in conjunction with H1623 double-sheave ESP end controls for cabintop travelers where lines lead to the aft edge of the cabintop. The H1620 is an OEM part found on some Beneteaus and Jeanneaus, and it requires special track found on those boats. The H1620 and H1623 are not recommended except as replacements.

The H1597 Midrange Pinstop requires H1617_ track.

Midrange track comes in low or high-beam configurations. Use low-beam track when it's supported at each fastener hole. Use high-beam track when it must span a cockpit or other unsupported area. Choose between variable hole spacing and drilled for high-beam track.

H1617_ track has 3/8" (10mm) pinstop holes spaced on 1 5/16" (34mm) centers to accept Midrange adjustable pinstop cars.

First fastener hole is 2" (50mm) from end of track on non-variable hole spacing track.

H1618_ Variable Hole spacing track can be used with H1849 Track Risers. See below.

H1616_, H1617_, and H1602_ can use the H1619 Splice Link.

The H3163, H3164, H3176, and H3177 require a minimum radius of 8' (2.44m) on curved track. The H3165, H3166, H3178, and H3179 require a minimum radius of 18' (5.49m) on curved track. Two coupled H3163's can be used on curved track with a minimum radius of 8' (2.44m). The H3167 requires a minimum radius of 24' (7.32m) on curved track.

Often found on curved track, couplers join two cars to form high-load assemblies.

Use high-load H580 and H752 couplers for single point attachments. Use H1799 control block with H580 or H1770 couplers. Use single, double or triple Black Magic AirBlocks with the H752 coupler.

High-Load controls are designed for offshore boats iwht mainsails over 400 square feet (37 square meters). These high-load controls allow 2: to 6:1 Purchases. The H1893 and H1936 use multiple rows of ball bearings. The H3173 and H3174 feature 57mm Black Magic Big Boat ball/roller sheaves and high-load aluminum sideplates to withstand shock loading.

Use H6088 in conjunction with H6090 car controls for cabintop travelers where lines lead to the aft edge of the cabintop. The H6088 is an OEM part found on some Beneteaus and Jeanneaus, and it requires special track found on those boats. The H6090 and H6088 are not recommended except as replacements.

H3155 track has 7/16" (12mm) pinstop holes spaced on 1 5/16" (34mm) centers to accept H703 and H704 pinstop cars.

When end controls are not used, add H548 or H562 endstops to absorb shock loads. When end control assemblies are used, trim caps finish track ends. Sold in pairs. Fasteners not included.

The H3135 Splice Link joins track and keeps it aligned during installation.

Use H1849 risers for mid-boom travelers that must clear companionway hatches. Uses Midrange High-Beam track (H1618_) or Big-Boat High-Beam track (H3156_). Risers fit most cabintops and articulate for use with either straight or curved track. Sold in pairs.

The H1985 Dodger Blocks route control lines to the deck from bridge-mounted travelers so the control line can pass under the dodger to cam cleats mounted within reach of the crew. Fits H1893 Big Boat High-Load Double Traveler End Control with Becket.

Sail once with the windward sheeting traveler car and you'll never sail without one. Pull the car above the centerline without releasing the leeward control line. Tack, and the car stays in the same position, ready to be pulled to the new windward side.

Cars are one-piece solid aluminum construction with captive balls. Mount track in the cockpit or near deck level. For dinghies to large offshore boats.

Track is often bent to follow the cabin house curve or boom radius. Sometimes track is bent vertically, ends up, to relieve tension on the sail's leech as the traveler car moves off the boat's centerline.

To perform smoothly and carry the correct load, the traveler car's length must suit track radius. Check the description of the traveler cars for their minimum radius requirements. Remember that you can couple two cars for higher loads on tighter radii.

Minor bends can often be made when the track is installed. If the track requires more bend, we can provide track with horizontal, vertical or compound curves to your specifications for a modest charge. If the bend is continuous, add 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100 cm) to each end because track cannot be bent to its ends. Standard Harken Mini-Maxi and Maxi traveler cars cannot ride on vertical bends with a radius under 50' (15.25m).
