J/105 Outhaul Upgrade Kit

The current (stock) J/105 Outhaul system features a 6:1 purchase system - this system tended not to have enough purchase in heavy air. As of 02/01/2008, the J/105 Class Rules were amended to allow for a more powerful 12:1 purchase system to be installed on new/existing boats.

Our J/105 Outhaul Upgrade Kit gives you all of the necessary line, blocks and shackles to make a smooth transition to the new system. This upgrade reuses your existing blocks (dimmed in photo) adding a 2:1 cascade to give you an effective 12:1. The 5/32" 7x19 wire for the outhaul's primary is replaced with 5/32" Yale Ultrex (SK-75 Dyneema) which is lighter and stronger than its wire counterpart. It has a cover added where it exits the end of the boom to protect it against chafe. The clew shackle has a captive pin so it will not be lost. The 2:1 cascade is shackled to the inboard end of the boom next to the existing block from the 6:1 (click above to see photos). Then run through the Harken block (included) and dead ended to your existing triple block.
