Black anodized, 7075 aluminum spars consist of a mast, a choice of three booms and a sprit. All black fittings, newly designed black sprit ends, hard anodized cleats, black sprit chafe guard, improved captive eyestraps on the boom, halyard cleat with becket, bead to prevent loss of hook-in block. Your choice of booms:

The 32 mm BLACKLITE Boom: A bendy boom with bridle, the Black Lite flattens to depower the sail and enable the lighweight sailor to go faster in more wind.

The 40 mm BLACKGOLD Boom: A stiff, lightweight boom with bridle. Suitable for most Optimist sailors.

The 55 mm BLACKMAX Boom: This ultra stiff, lightweight boom can be used without a bridle enabling the larger sailor to jump across the boat and not too far aft while tacking.

All booms are made from seamless extruded (not welded) high grade, tempered aluminum tube, fitted with captive eyestraps, black nylon inboard and outboard end-fittings, black outhaul cleat, 4 mm Vectran outhaul, 6 mm Vectran/wire, vang and outhaul trim gauge.

Sprit Poles:

New for 2009: 29mm Blackmax racing sprit. This sprit is 19% stiffer than the 27 mm, giving it more control over the leech and is recommended for sailors over 100 lbs.

The QuickSilver Spars are less stiff than the BlackGold, but this is ideal for the lighter weight sailor who has just started racing. The Silver Mast is 45mm in diameter by 2mm wall made from tempered 6082 aluminium tube. The boom is 40mm in diameter by 1.2mm wall and is stiffer than the school boom allowing the sailor to put more tension on the leach. The sprit is 25.4mm in diameter and 1.6mm on the wall and has a 15cm long anti-chafe protection tube.

The Upgraded School spars are made from tempered 6082 aluminium tube.

the Upgraded School mast is fitted with a stainless steel halyard block, aluminum Clamcleats for halyard and downhaul, a nylon pin stop and two stainless steel eyes for fixing the head of the sail. 45mm diameter, 2mm wall.

The Upgraded School boom has blue nylon in- and outboard end fittings, a nylon outhaul cleat and nylon fittings for mainsheet and downhaul attachment. 31mm diameter, 1.6mm wall.

The Upgraded School sprit has blue sprit ends and a 15cm black tubing for chafe protection. 25.4mm diameter, 1.6mm wall.

The Upgraded School Rigging Pack is made from high quality braided polyester lines. Includes all halyard and control lines, bridle with ring, but no sail ties.
