Laser, Laser Radial & Laser 4.7 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It's no secret that many of the world's top sailors perfected their skills in the Laser. Olympic Medalists, America's Cup Helmsmen, and Collegiate All-Americans all raced the ultimate one-design. With over 170,000 boats constructed to date, the Laser is the Gold standard in single-handed, one-design sailing. The Laser, designed by Bruce Kirby, was built on the philosophy that the sailor wins the race, not the boat. Every Laser in the world is identical. Strict class rules guarantee that it is the sailor, not the equipment, that makes the difference. Laser racing is a true test of skill.
Laser Performance now offers three rigging levels for each of the boats in the Laser line; they are now available in either Laser, Laser Race, and Laser XD.

Laser - Radial Rig |

LOA: 13'10” Beam: 4'6” Draft: 2'7” Sail Area: 62 Square Feet Hull Weight: 130 Pounds Colors: White hull with gray deck Hosting a world championship with over 150 boats and boasting a slew of local, regional, and national level events for sailors of all ages. The Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association, US Sailing Association, and International Sailing Federation contest all of their major Junior and Women's championships in the Laser Radial. The Laser Radial class is built on the same fundamental philosophy as the Laser class. Strict one-design rules mean that it's the sailor, not the boat that wins the race. Every Laser and Laser Radial is identical. The Radial requires all the same techniques and tools as the Laser, allowing smaller sailors to jump into the competitive world of Laser sailing. It's no secret that many of the world's top sailors have done lots of Laser sailing. The laser Radial gives even more sailors the chance to join in on the action. So when you're ready to race, get into a Laser Radial.

Laser - 4.7 Rig |

LOA: 13'10” Beam: 4'6” Draft: 2'7” Sail Area: 50 Square Feet Hull Weight: 130 Pounds Colors: White hull with gray deck The Laser 4.7 class is built on the same fundamental philosophy as the Laser class: strict one-design rules mean it’s the sailor, not the boat that wins. By using a standard Laser hull, blades and deck fittings but a smaller rig, the Laser 4.7 is the perfect boat for youth sailors who would like to stay in a singlehanded boat but may not be big enough to sail a Radial. The Laser 4.7’s rig is designed to match the Laser’s unique handling characteristics and performance. The Laser 4.7 Class, administered by the International Laser Class of North America, is growing quickly throughout North America. The Laser 4.7 puts young sailors on the path to a lifetime of sailing the world’s largest, best, and most rewarding singlehanded classes.
