APS Gold Optimist Dinghy
Built on the platform of the McLaughlin Optisailors' custom hull, the APS Gold is truly the fastest Optimist you can buy. Laser-aligned appendages and guaranteed minimum weight are just some of the features on this boat. Vectran rigging offers no stretch while protecting your spars from corrosion and Swiftcord controls are soft on the hands while holding perfectly in cleats. The hull comes standard with a Ronstan (aka Fredrickson} mainsheet block and the unique Zhikgrip hiking system. We optimize this boat with Black Gold spars, N1 blades and a North racing sail, but you can substitute any of these with your choice of sail, spars, blades or ratchet at no additional cost. There is no reason to consider any other racing Optimist dinghy.

This package includes:

McLaughlin "World Champion" Hull: Time tested hull that has won the US Nationals and worlds. Accepts advanced racing equipment as needed.
Optiparts Upgraded Club Spars: Eliminates loose parts and complexity of rigging. Ideal for beginner sailors. Made of anodized 6000 series aluminum with Clam cleats for greater holding power. 2:1 sprit adjustment with harken ball bearing block with the strongest and most durable end fittings on the market.
Class Legal Club Sail: Long lasting cloth with a vision window, class insignia and class royalty fees button. Nist durable sail available, easy to adjust with a fast shape. Includes sail ties, battens and a spar bag large enough to s tore and protect the spars with the sail still attached.
Optiparts "New Rule" Blades: Built of clear epoxy and fiberglass over foam to the latest class specifications. They are the same design as those required at the World Championships. Aluminum tiller and extension included for free. (They even float for safety).

McLaughlin Charter Optimist

Chartered McLaughlin Club Racer Optimist
McLaughlin charters about 150 hulls every year to families that fly into a regatta some distance from their home region. These hulls are used at two events and then returned to the factory. Each hull is thoroughly cleaned, buffed and inspected. We offer these "like-new" boats at a $200 discount. Only the hull and sometimes the blades come used. The spars and sail are brand new. These boats come with a full factory warranty. Subject to availability.
