Laser Performance Bug

Laser Performance Bug The Bug is an extremely competent performance dinghy with windsurfer like agility and quickness. Designed by Jo Richards, the Bug is an exceptional dinghy, especially for those looking to enhance their sailing skills and eventually compete.

The triple layer polyethylene hull is stable and durable without compromising performance.

The latest thinking in hydrodynamics were brought to bear when designing the hull. In addition, the hull features aluminum extendable carry handles, which slide out of the transom drain ports.

Add the optional integrated wheel, and the Bug is a breeze to maneuver around the boat park.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ideal crew weight for Bug/Bug Race?
Because of the versatility of the Bug it has an extremely wide weight range. Youth and adult sailors from 60lbs. - 225lbs. can effectively sail the boat. When in use as a tender, it can easily accommodate up to 325lbs.

Does the wheel compromise performance?
In intial prototype tests the answer is, no. The boat with the wheel performed very similarly to the boat with the blanking plate.

Can I buy the Bug and later convert it to a Bug Race?
Yes. You just need to purchase a different top section, a vang block with a bit of line and the appropriate sail.

Do I need a dolly?
The Bug and Bug Race have an optional built in wheel and handles that work as a dolly. If you prefer a more traditional approach, Seitech has already developed a specific Bug dolly.

How high can I stack the Bug?
Easily up to six boats high and possibly higher.

Can you use a motor with the Bug?
Yes. A standard 2hp - 3hp motor works best with the Bug.
