Waterproof Jackets and Outerwear: Hard Shell Jackets, Vests & Pants
The gear in this category is designed to be your first line of defense against deteriorating conditions – while it's not foul weather gear and won't be ideal for the really nasty stuff, it's perfect for days where the weather starts to have some bite to it.

Let's start with the Microburst line by Atlantis, available in a jacket or vest. This gear is designed to be lightweight, packable, windproof, waterproof and breathable and is an ideal three-season jacket for any position on the boat. The Summer Jacket & Vest and Boa Bunda Trousers from SLAM have similar performance characteristics to the Microburst line and is designed with athletic lines and a durable Nylon taslon face.

Musto has two entries in this category, depending on the weight of the jacket or vest you're looking for. The Corsica Jacket and Vest both have a durable ripstop outer facing with a soft, warm fleece lining on the interior of the jacket for warmth during the spring, winter and fall. For a lighter option, the Sardinia line has the same outer characteristics, but it features a lighter mesh lining on the interior for spring, summer and fall use. The Sardinia line has a jacket and vest as well. For another warm option, take a good look at the Patagonia Nano Puff Pullover – it is made with PrimaLoft insulation and has a DWR (durable water repellant) facing that also does a super job being a middle layer.

The Inshore Sport line by Gill, available in a jacket, vest and waistpant, uses their 2-Dot microporous fabric for stellar weather protection. Additionally, it retains a high level of breathability and sports taped seams for an added layer of weather slaying goodness. Henri Lloyd's Breeze Performance Line, sporting a jacket, vest and pants, is one of the stalwarts of this group and is the next generation of their ultra-popular Breeze line that has been adorning many sailors and crews for years.

Great for team gear, the Gill Crew line is the perfect all around, casual jacket or vest. Made of durable nylon tactel ripstop shell with hydophillic PU coating. Fleece lined for warmth, it has fully taped seams and a water repellent finish.
