Selden Series 42 - Mainsheet Cars and Parts
|
Selden system 42 is used for keelboats and yachts up to approximately 65'. The main sheet car and the self-tacking car are black anodised, extruded aluminium. They run on Torlon® ball bearings. The function of the end cap is to keep the cars on track. AISI 316 mirror finished stainless toggles for Seldén PBB 80 and RBB 80 blocks. Double selftacking car for PBB 100 Ø50 mm plain bearing Acetal sheaves and composite sheave houses for control lines. End controls with Cam cleat 38. The Ø60 mm main sheet sheave and the Ø80 mm genoa sheave have plain bearings for vertical loads and Torlon® ball bearings stabilize the sheave when subjected to side loads.The suitable max size of control line is Ø10 mm.
Main System 4:1 operated with cam cleats fitted to the end controls are suitable for coach roof installations in combination with mid sheeted booms. Cam cleats can be angled towards the trimmer and the angle can be fine tuned by using wedges. For non cleated 4:1 main systems, the control line can either be led to a separate cam cleat or winch or the lead block and cam cleat can be mounted separately in the cockpit.
A helpful suggestion would be to let the main sheet control line be endless and lead it through two rings. Each ring is fitted to the rail with rubber cord, each side of the cockpit. This way the leeward end of the control line can be released from windward.

Selden Series 42 - Standard Tracks
|
Selden Standard tracks are available in three different sizes: 22mm, 30mm and 42mm widths. Track size is determined by the boat size. Generally a size 42mm track is ideal for keelboats and yachts up to 65'.
Selden Standard Tracks are used for cars that are adjusted with control lines and for self-tacking systems. Pinstop Tracks are used for pinstop genoa cars. The pinstop track is a spring loaded plunger that fixes the genoa car on the purpose made track. High beam tracks are used for unsupported main sheet systems and self tacking systems. The sliding bolt track is ideal for a retrofit upgrade. The fasteners can be located according to existing bolt holes. This type of track is also used for applications where the bolts can be hidden.
