APS - Sheave Boxes and Halyard Exit Plates

Harken Sheave Box and Reinforced Cover Plates

These lightweight, low-friction wire blocks carry wire and line halyards on boats like the Mumm 30 and Melges 30. High-load, composite bearings carry axial loads. The sheave is Hardkote-anodized and Teflon impregnated for strength and corrosion resistance. Has sideload balls between the sheave and the sideplate to minimize friction from unfair leads. The sideplates can be rotated before installation to allow the insertion of pre-swaged or Nico pressed wire fittings. The H310 comes with a standard non-reinforced coverplate. Reinforced coverplates are sold separately and do not include the block assembly.

Holt Allen Sheave Boxes

Holt Allen alloy sheave boxes are suitable for all types of spar. They can also be used in thru-deck or bulkhead applications. The pressure die cast aluminum casing incorporates special side flanges to minimize friction and rope wear. Available with either a plain bearing acetal sheave or a high-load stainless steel ball bearing sheave. The HA8, HA8A, and HA28 yacht sheave boxes are ideal for halyard exit and entry boxes with special side flanges to minimize friction. The HA8 and HA8A have a nylon casing.

Holt Allen low profile alloy sheave boxes feature the Holt Allen --hook-in-- cage which was developed to withstand the high loading of todays modern rigs. The pressure die cast aluminum casing incorporates special side flanges to minimize friction and rope wear. Available with either a plain bearing acetal sheave or a high-load stainless steel ball bearing sheave.

Schaefer Exit Plates

Schaefer exit plates are ideal for entrance or exit points of internal halyards and control lines. Use these for big boats. Stamped from stainless steel and formed to provide a smooth halyard lead and a finished look to mast and boom slots. Welded rub bar on the inner surface prevents halyards from wearing a slot in the mast. The surface plate prevents halyards from damaging painted spars.

Forespar Nylon Exit Box

Made of Nylon, this exit box has stainless steel bars. We found these exit boxes on big boat carbon spinnaker poles. They are perfect for dinghy masts. Dimensions are 3" x 7/8" overall and will fit in to a 2" x 5/8" hole. This is a suitable replacement for the discontinued Z-spar aluminum exit box (ZSHE).
