Forte applies 4-axis continuous fiber braiding over an aluminum mandrel to produce extremely durable and tough carbon fiber tubes. The interlocking fiber braid is wet-out with epoxy resin. The end result is a seamless braided tube with very precise compression or bending characteristics.
Forte builds its parts to specific lengths and weights, and may be straight gauge or tapered. The FCT (Forte Carbon Tube) 300 requires one or two pieces of 3 in. heat shrink as a bushing, and has an outside diameter of 3 1/8 in. (79mm), an inner diameter of 2 7/8 in. (73mm), and a maximum length of 15'.
Sailors on J/35, Farr 33, and similarly sized racing-cruising boats make spinnaker poles or prods out of these tubes by using Forespar UXP-300 FP304053 end fittings.
