Have you heard the term "Lopez block" thrown around the J24 class, and wondered who this “Lopez” could possibly be?
Well, APS has the answer: Lopez blocks are a way of setting up J24 Genoa leads, using a Ratchamatic block with a mounted Cam Cleat.
A stand up spring and a spring disc also come with the assembly, keeping the block upright, and keeping the lead angle to the Cam Cleat just right.
This method of sheeting allows your trimmer to pull the new sheet in from the leeward side (pulling up and through the cleat), more effectively roll tacking the boat. Then, once the Genoa sheet is tensioned on the winch, the sheet will pop out of the Cam Cleat and the block returns to normal operation.
