Sailing Buoyancy Aids

Buoyancy Aids are great options for highly mobile sailors who need a minimum restriction of movement. Close fitting waist length vests have limited buckles or zips an easy in and out. These are preferred by many dinghy and skiff sailors because of their sleek and simple design. Although not U.S. Coast Guard approved, typically they are CE  or ISO approved. Different styles include front zip, side zip or pullover.  NOTE: By European CE and ISO standards, buoyancy aids provide only 11 pounds (50 newtons) of floatation.  The USCG requires a minimum of 15.5 pounds (70 newtons) of floatation to be considered for USCG approval.
