Shipping Function Owner (Permanent, Full-Time – Hourly with Benefits)

The Shipping Function within the Fulfillment Department at APS will support company profitability by managing time waste, ensures orders are processed correctly the first time and reduce shipping and supply expenses where possible. The Shipping Function Owner will also identify and participate in the continuous improvement of the Shipping Function areas.
  • Ensures the accurate, picking, packing and shipping of APS customer orders
  • Orders and maintains packing and shipping supplies inventory
  • Supervises and coaches team members
  • Trains team members
  • Develops and maintains carrier relations such as UPS, USPS, FedEx and others
  • Ensures overall productivity (time management) of the team
  • Collects, analyzes and reports on a variety of performance metrics
Qualifications
  • Sailing experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work towards goals, collecting data and reporting
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups or customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to teach and mentor staff to form cohesive work groups
  • Ability to research and correct discrepancies and identify and correct core issues impacting order picking and shipping
  • Must have strong skill level in using Microsoft Office as well as working in data systems
  • Ability to multitask a necessity
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manua ls
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs and stand for periods of time
Education:

Inventory Control Function Owner - Fulfillment (Permanent, Full Time – Hourly with Benefits)

We are a company of approximately 30 employees; and operate a retail store, comprehensive catalog with an extensive online store offering. Our products include a performance line, hardware, apparel, accessories, rigging services, apparel embroidery and more. We are a strategically driven and growing company that emphasizes efficiency and working as a team in order to enhance our customer's experience.

Role Overview

This position has a key role in ensuring the accuracy of the physical inventory at APS: clothing, gear, parts and line. Real-time problem solving of inventory discrepancies to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and in a timely manner. Proactively corrects inventory daily. Works with the Product and Marketing Departments and the Receiving Function to support APS’s product offering to customers.
  • Monitors, directs and performs inventory control activities, identifies missing items, reconciles quantities and ensures inventory is in the correct location
  • Creates and maintains product storage and order picking locations
  • Monitors and controls inventory in-bound and out-bound from warehouse locations
  • Improves work processes to maximize efficiency of the inventory control function
  • Works directly with the Fulfillment Manager to ensure compliance with operating procedures to consistently meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Creates and maintains weekly inventory control report
  • Promotes a safe work environment
  • Ensures security of inventory
  • Works in other functional areas as necessary as part of the APS team
Capabilities Required: We are willing to fully train Inventory Control skills for the right candidate with sailing experience.

Be able to:
  • Research and correct inventory discrepancies and identify and correct core issues impacting the efficiency of the inventory control process
  • Gather data and report weekly on the success of the inventory control function
  • Achieve inventory control goals and improve the process by overcoming obstacles to efficiency
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to meet the strategic goals of the company
  • Prioritize multiple tasks as necessary
  • Have attention to detail
  • Use Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Sailing experience is a bonus
  • Occasionally lift up to 50lbs and stand for periods of time
Education and Experience
  • High School graduate required, college degree preferred.
  • Previous business experience or equivalent education preferred.

If you have a passion for sailing and enjoy talking to and helping people, we need you for our Annapolis storefront. Our storefront team works as solution providers and educators helping sailors find and purchase the best product to suit their needs. Like all team members at APS your role will focus on providing a great customer experience and creating customers for life.

Responsibilities
  • Greet customers in a timely professional manner and engage with everyone who enters the store
  • Maintain an easy to shop and well merchandised storefront
  • Provide solutions and feedback for customers with rigging, apparel and hardware questions
  • Consistently seek out new trends and product knowledge
  • Maintain a positive and motivating work environment in order to provide the best possible experience for both coworkers and customers
  • Create great experiences that will encourage lifetime relationships with our customers
  • Works in other functional areas as necessary
  • Continuously work to improve the effectiveness of the storefront
  • Perform daily maintenance in store including stocking of apparel, creating displays, and light cleaning
Qualifications
  • Experienced and passionate about sailing and racing sailboats
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sailing and the APS product offering
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, professional manner
  • Ability to quickly learn about products, processes, and software
  • Strong organizational and follow through skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast paced environment

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
  • Experience working in a retail, sales or hospitality industry useful but not required

NEW - Website Editor (Permanent, Full Time - Salary)

APS is looking for a sailor who is technically capable of maintaining and administering our retail website. This job is essential to the success of our online retail site, from planning through executing initiatives to raise traffic and sales of APS’s website. This position functions in partnership with the marketing team to carry out the web component of campaigns and promotions.
  • Maintain all operations and administration of our retail website- front & back end
  • Recommend and implement positive layout changes throughout the site
  • Improve customer usability through better navigation, search and overall experience
  • Maintain SEO best practices
  • Define and implement a program to increase campaign traffic through Google Adwords
  • Accountable for tracking and reporting of analytics
  • Perform product updates and adding new products to the site
  • Execute product changes throughout the site
  • Administer staff requested website updates in a timely fashion
  • Promote both offsite and onsite activities and also the interactions that build ranking, profile and traffic
  • Ensure that all websites and internet properties under your influence have been technically optimized to attract and engage those visitors
Qualifications
  • Must be an active performance sailor
  • College Degree in related field required
  • 2 – 3 years in web administration or management
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • 3+ years of experience in writing effective HTML and CSS coding

APS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented sailor who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to join our Web team for a 2 – 4 month engagement.

  • Compile information and images to update our online product offering for migration to a new platform
  • Write unique product descriptions
  • Perform basic Photoshop skills to resize and customize images
Qualifications
  • Must be an Active Sailor
  • Basic Photoshop Skills Preferred but not necessary
