The Harken #35 Radial 2 Speed Electric Self-Tailing Aluminum Winch allows you to trim sails with ease from the comfort of your cockpit. The self-tailing mechanism on this winch allows for one crew member to quickly raise and lower sails on their own. The drum of this winch has a sand-blasted gripping surface that features diagonal ribs instead of a textured abrasive design. This reduces line wear while maximizing gripping power.

This electric self-tailing winch requires one circuit breaker, one control box, and one Digital System Switch or two analog switches. Electric Radial and Performa electric winches are supplied with the appropriate dual-function control box. For replacement or retrofit control boxes see our our Harken Electric Winch Components section or contact our customer service representatives.

Key Features:

  • Horizontal Motor Mounting
  • Efficient design allows for smaller motor size.
  • Load-carrying gears and pins are 17-4 PH stainless steel for corrosion resistance and strength.
  • High-strength composite roller bearings and bushings reduce friction under load.
  • Patented mounting system for fast, one-person installation without removing drum.
  • A Snap off the skirt at the base of the winch.

Motor Features:

  • New more energy efficient motors achieve more work per unit of electricity consumed.
  • Motor attaches to the central drive shaft and drive through winch gears for a two-speed mechanical advantage.
  • Low-power first gear for fast trimming; higher-power second gear for fine-tuning loaded sheets.
  • Smaller motor size thanks to new more efficient design.

Stripper Arm Features:

  • Stripper arm completely covers rotating winch top, preventing fingers and clothing from catching in moving parts.
  • Adjusts to multiple positions after the winch is mounted to optimize line exit.
  • Shaped to smoothly feed line in and out of self-tailing jaws.
